ST. CHARLES – Healing Gardens, a two-acre expanse of woodland and perennial gardens on Stone Hill Farm off Dean Street in St. Charles, presents itsnext Sunday opening from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 13.

Social distancing guidelines will be followed. The gardens are open to the public on set dates for the purpose of enjoying the natural area.The admission cost is $5 per person and $10 per family; call for discounted group rates. Admission is free for cancer survivors. Donations of time or money for upkeep are welcome. Healing Gardens is cultivated and hosted by Deborah Marqui, owner of Stone Hill Farm with husband Buzz Marqui.

“Numerous colors of mums are beginning to open along with many varied summer blooms. Flowers feed the soul,” Deborah Marqui stated in a news release. "For a small donation, visitors can pick their own bouquet of flowers to take home – jars and scissors [are] provided.

The opening will offer an optional outdoor "Yoga in the Garden" class from 1 to 2 p.m., taught by Nancy May; to register, go to www.yogafromtheheart.org or call815-319-3500.

Because of the stress of the COVID quarantine this season, Healing Gardens has been made available for individuals to visit during the week, in addition to the monthly Sunday openings.

New book

Healing Gardens also announces the publication of "Healing Gardens: Where the Soul Is Tended," authored by Deborah Marqui. In her new eBook, she takes the reader on a walking tour of the gardens, allowing them to see her vision unfold before their eyes, and capturing the surprises found at every turn.
