SANDWICH – Although Fourth of July festivities had to be postponed because of the pandemic, the Sandwich Park District announced it will host a parade, Freedom Run 5K Race and a fireworks show over Labor Day weekend.

The parade will step off at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5. The route will be announced at a later date.

The Freedom Run 5K will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, at Knights Park. Fireworks will be at dusk Sunday, Sept. 6. With the shutdown of the Sandwich Fairgrounds, the fireworks will be at a different location to be announced later.

Usually, donations are accepted at the gate of the Sandwich Fairgrounds to help offset the cost of the fireworks. With the venue changing this year, the Sandwich Park District is asking for donations to be made online or at donation locations around town.
