ST. CHARLES – New health and safety standards will be in place at the ninth annual St. Charles Jazz Weekend set for Sept. 10 to 13.

That includes not creating a stage in the First Street Plaza in downtown St. Charles.

"Safety is a top priority for the event,” St. Charles Business Alliance Executive Director Jenna Sawicki said in a news release. “We are also excited for the event and thrilled with this opportunity to support our businesses and community. In times like these, music and art [are] very much needed to keep spirits and hope alive."

The St. Charles Business Alliance organizes the event. Information regarding the music lineup and participating venues will be announced in coming weeks.

Jazz Weekend features jazz musicians who play at venues throughout St. Charles. Previous Jazz Weekends have featured high-profile musicians such as Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Frank Catalano, who played with the Elgin Community College Jazz Band as an ECC student in 1999.
