The Fern Dell Historic Association in Newark will host a 5-B's drive-thru barbecue dinner May 8, doubling as an early Mother's Day celebration.
"Mother's Day is just around the corner, and Mother Nature has been teasing us with hints of spring. I bet you're trying to think of a way to celebrate both," writes Wendy Bernard on behalf of the Fern Dell Historic Association.
"A drive in the country and maybe stopping for dinner sounds good, doesn't it?, Bernard adds. "Unfortunately, it's not possible for mom to hear those three little words that make her so happy: table or booth? I think we're all tired of eating our own cooking. So what do we do you ask?"
For the drive-thru barbecue dinner, just follow the signs in Newark to the east side of the Fern Dell Museum at the corner of Front and Jackson streets from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dinner options of two chops, half chicken or a combo cost $13, and include cole slaw, baked beans, applesauce and dinner roll.
Just drive up, place your order and head out with dinner, a news release stated. Proceeds will support the association. Visit the Facebook page at shawurl.com/3d6a.
