The St. Charles Arts Council has issued a call for poems associated with Covid-19 from all poets.
The series will be called "Poetry in a Time of Pandemic," and the submission deadline is May 8, a news release stated. People may email submissions to: firstname.lastname@example.org, including their name as they'd like it to appear and where they live.
The poem length should be roughly 25 lines, and the subject should be poetically related to the pandemic the world is living through together right now. Only unpublished work is sought. Selected poems will be featured on the SCAC website.
"Through poetry, we can name and define that which is causing us grief and confusion – but is also emphasizing loving kindness like never before," the release stated, and added a quotation from Rumi: "The message behind the words is the voice of the heart."
The St. Charles Arts Council gives special thanks to Tricia Whitworth from The Fox Poetry Box for facilitating the event (https://www.facebook.com/OriginalFoxPoetryBox).
