Blue Lotus Temple returns with its 17th annual Taste of Sri Lanka fundraiser March 14.
The event, organized by the Sri Lanken community and temple monks, is being hosted at the First Congregational Church at 461 Pierson St., Crystal Lake, to raise funds for the Blue Lotus Temple.
“What the temple is promoting, mindfulness and love and kindness to the world, to have this place exist, this building is 120 years old, every year we have an annual big fundraiser for the temple, to run this beautiful place for the community,” Head Monk Bhante Sujatha said.
The dinner begins at 4 p.m., but silent auction items will be on display before and during the dinner. There will be a short live auction after the live entertainment and the announcement of silent auction high bids.
The menu of Sri Lankan staple dishes, prepared this year by a Sri Lankan chef, will include the exotic spices, fruits and vegetables that make this cuisine so appealing and adventurous. There are dishes for every taste – ultra spicy or mild, vegan or vegetarian, and cooling desserts to delight every palate, promise organizers.
Tickets can be bought at the temple’s website or on the social media page. Table reservations are available upon request.
