BATAVIA – The sweet sounds of the Chris Green Quartet are on tap at 7 p.m. April 24 at Water Street Studios in downtown Batavia with a WDCB Jazz Night, for which ticket sales are underway.
Saxophonist and composer Chris Greene has collaborated with some of the nation’s most creative and versatile musicians, a news release stated. Greene plays with a variety of groups in diverse genres.
“I wanted to go outside of tradition to bring in these ridiculously talented players who, because they weren’t known for playing jazz, would bring something new to the music,” Greene stated in the release.
He has performed or recorded with such artists as Common, The Temptations, Eric Roberson, Ed Motta, Steve Coleman & Five Elements, Maysa Leak, Ten City, Sheena Easton, Steve Cole, Michael Manson, Andrew Bird, The J. Davis Trio, Chris Rob, Vic Lavender, Jesse De La Pena, Liquid Soul and The Mighty Blue Kings.
Greene was featured in the "PlayOn" episode of the Fox TV show "Empire," and he also composed the score for the Chicago Children's Theatre’s recent production of “Bud, Not Buddy."
"Join us for an evening of music and art with WDCB and the sounds of the Chris Green Quartet," invite organizers.
The intimate, all-ages concert will take place in the Water Street Studios gallery. Event sponsors are Batavia Arts Council, K. Hollis Jewelers, Solemn Oath Brewery, The Wine Exchange and Batavia Enterprises.
Seating is limited to 70, so purchasign tickets early is recommended. The event also features a cash bar with beer by Solemn Oath Brewery and wine selections from The Wine Exchange.
