ST. CHARLES – Figure skating legend Scott Hamilton will visit Christ Community Church in St. Charles to take part in the Inspiring Stories Weekend on Feb. 8 and 9.

Hamilton has won 70 figure skating titles, awards and honors including an Emmy Award nomination and induction into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame and World Figure Skating Hall of Fame.

In 1984, Hamilton captured the attention of the world with his Olympic Gold medal performances in Sarajevo, and since has shared his love and enthusiasm for the sport as an analyst-commentator, performer, producer and best-selling author ("Finish First: Winning Changes Everything" (2018); "The Great Eight" (2009); and" Landing It" (1999). He inspires others as a speaker, humanitarian and as a cancer and pituitary brain tumor survivor.

His powerful discussion about hope during the darkest times will be shared live in services at 5 p.m. Feb. 8 and at 9 and 11 a.m. Feb. 9 at Christ Community’s St. Charles campus at the northwest corner of Randall and Bolcum roads. Services will include live worship music and the interview. He will sign his books after the 5 p.m. and 11 a.m. services.

His appearance also will be shown via livestream at Christ Community’s campuses in Aurora, DeKalb and Streamwood during their regular weekend services. There is no charge or ticket required to attend any of the services, and all are welcome.

Christ Community Church started in 1984 as a group of six couples who met regularly for Bible study. Now, over 5,000 weekend attendees meet on the four campuses.
