Post-New Year's fun is announced by The Venue, the 200-seat music performance space in downtown Aurora, which will kick off 2020 in style with songwriter stories, releases, album tributes and an homage to the King.

Tickets range from $5 to $25 and are available at The Venue, at 21 S. Broadway Ave. (Route 25), was launched in 2019 by the Fox Valley Music Foundation.

Musical lineup

Two monthly features will start in January at The Venue. The Bluegrass Pro-Jam will begin with some sweet pickin’ and a grinnin’ at 7 p.m. Jan. 8. Tickets cost $5.

At 7 p.m. Jan. 9, The Venue will unveil its first Songwriters Showcase, featuring four songwriters. Sharing songs and stories in the round with host Dave Glynn will be Vivian Garcia, Lisa Gloria and The Kevin Trudo. Tickets cost $10.

“Blues from the Inside Out” is the new album by Dave Specter, who will host his record release party and live performance at 8 p.m. Jan. 11. The international touring blues artist will deliver his vintage sound, and will offer signed copies of the new record, already a chart-topper. Tickets cost $15 and $25.

The lineup will cover all the rock years in January, starting with the monthly Album Cover Series, featuring Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” at 7 p.m. Jan. 12. Tickets cost $10 and $15.

Fans can jump into the Wayback Machine to the 1960s with The Wayouts at 8 p.m. Jan. 18. The band will pull the audience back into the garage with the sounds of The Kinks and Animals among other 1960s favorites. Tickets cost $10 and $15.

People can kick it up a notch with The Claudettes at 8 p.m. Jan. 24. Bandleader Johnny Iguana pounds the piano alongside seductive singer Berit Ulseth, bassist-guitarist-singer Zach Verdoorn and drummer Michael Caskey. Tickets cost $10 and $15.

The schedule rounds out the trip down memory lane with "Elvis Thru the Years … A Tribute to Elvis Presley," performed at 8 p.m. Jan. 31 by Jason Stone. The musical journey covers all the great eras of music from his rockabilly start to his Vegas years. Tickets cost $15 and $25.

Dance, hip-hop events

For the dancing crowd, Zazz Jazz Combo offers sizzling hot jazz to warm up a winter night at 8 p.m. Jan. 17. Tickets cost $10 and $15. For hip-hop fans, the space presents a battle of the DJs at 8 p.m. Jan. 25, with "A-Illa: Return of the Disc Jockey." Tickets cost $5.
