Enjoy a great local family event this Sunday along the gorgeous Fox River in Batavia, as the Batavia VFW plays host to a pumpkin carving contest followed by a pig roast on its grounds at 645 S. River St.

Costumes are welcome at this public, family event.

Pumpkin carving will start at 9 a.m., with judging at 11:30 by Fire Chief Deicke. Batavia police and fire vehicles will be on hand for the kiddos.

Don’t forget it’s GAME DAY! The Bears and Chargers kickoff at noon and you can watch outside during the pig roast!

For adults, the roast is $10 per plate, which includes potato salad and cole slaw and water, soda, or a beer or cocktail (for those over 21). $5 for kids 8-18 years old. Free for kids under 8 years old.

Tickets are available for purchase in advance or at the time of the event. You can pre-register by calling (630) 879-9630.

Wear a costume or your favorite Bears gear. And keep an eye on the Batavia VFW for upcoming events at www.vfw1197.org
