GENEVA – The Geneva Park District is planning a number of fun, family-friendly events throughout October to celebrate autumn and Halloween.
The park district’s newest event is “Escape the Mansion” at the Stephen Persinger Recreation Center on Oct. 19. The center will be transformed into a haunted mansion where guests have to use teamwork to escape. Registration is recommended and tickets are $10 for residents, $15 for nonresidents.
This year’s Halloween Hayday is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Stephen Persinger Recreation Center. Activities include kids’ games, a costume contest, science activities, a Halloween egg hunt, bounce houses, hay rides and more. The event is for ages 14 and under. Registration is recommended.
Bring your four-legged friend for the Howl-O’ Ween Dog Parade on Oct. 26 at Peck Farm Park. Parade lineup begins at 1:15 p.m. in the courtyard. The parade steps off at 1:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative, funniest and scariest dog costumes.
The park district also offers a number of seasonal classes for all ages, including scarecrow making, pumpkin painting, history and science of candy and more, as well as special trips for ages 10 to 16 to No Escape’s Escape Room, Bengston’s Pumpkin Farm and Jonamac Apple Orchard.
